Intro
Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface. All are legends of horror and all have sliced and diced their way to fame. Leslie Vernon. The next great serial killer allows a group of film grad students to document the life and work of a serial killer in the 2006 release of Scott Glosserman’s “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon”.
Dialogue
The Dialogue was very creative. The way it’s setup, makes it seem like this was really happening, and that this was a legit business. David J. Stieve and Scott Glosserman wrote out a good script that have a great amount of black comedy in it.
Acting
The acting was superb. Nathan Baesal gave a near perfect performance as Leslie Vernon. He really captured charming side of him, which makes it impossible not to like him, but also was able to snap in a seconds beat. Angela Goethal (Home Alone) was a class “A” star in this one, going from intriguing documenter to a great survivor girl.
Plot
The plot was SO amazing. This is truly something that has never been done before and worked out very well. To see how and why these classic staples in horror flick are done was very cool. Excellent story.
Music
This is the weakest area of the film. I didn’t notice any music at all while watching it. Classic reference to “The Shining” music, but that alone wasn’t enough.
Overall
Overall this is a stepping stone in the recent horror film era. This is something that is very cool and very different, should win over almost all horror fans.
