Director Roman Polanski, known for a storied career spanning four decades, was arrested Saturday in Zurich, Switzerland on an active US warrant for a crime committed in 1978, the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl.
Polanski was the husband of Sharon Tate, who was brutally murdered by Charles Manson’s cult, Helter Skelter in 1969 and has since led a turbulent life. He was arrested in the late 70s after the crime, but he fled the country and has been wanted ever since.
His dark and storied life can be seen through his often brutal and violent films, like Rosemary’s baby, Repulsion, The Tenant, and Chinatown.
