  • Somebody’s Big Day!

    Birthday Cake

Well, lets all wish Patrick Farmer, co-founder and fellow author of SquidFlicks a happy 17th birthday today! Now he needs to get on the ball and finish that driver’s license up! Just kidding Pat – I feel your pain too about that whole rigmarole!

ALSO, THE POLL ENDS TONIGHT AT 11:59:59 CST! PATRICK, THIS POLL DATE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR BIRTHDAY, SO YOU CAN GET THOSE CRAZY IDEAS OUT OF YOUR HEAD RIGHT NOW! =)

I drew that picture with my AWESOME new Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet! In commemoration of my new ability to hand-create graphics directly into the computer, I have launched a deviantART profile to showcase my/OSS works; check it out and let me know what you think! – osquid.deviantart.com

    See you around!

  • Transformers

    Transformers

This is a review by a Guest Author – Ricky Holdman

    Intro

When you hear the word “Transformers” you probably think about the children’s toy, or fanboys with their bellies hanging over their belts, glasses, and a Transformers shirt which is about 2 sizes too small. Well, both of these are correct, but this 2007 movie Directed by Michael Bay and Produced by Steven Spielberg, holds a whole lot more meaning than those two things.

  • Trailers for all!

    Trailers for all!

    Trailers! Not those kind, though!

SquidFlicks just received another mega-overhaul! Thanks to editor Patrick Farmer, all of the SquidFlicks Previews and Reviews now have trailers for their corresponding titles. Patrick has informed me that there were a few (less than 5) that had no trailers that were publicly available. If you happen across a link for one of these missing trailers – legally please =/ – contact us! I will add it immediately!

    Stay tuned for more Squid!

  • Post Ratings are back!

This is an announcement that the post rating feature has been reapplied! I had to add the code to the new template, and it got placed in the wrong spot at first. Look for it under the “add this” button, and rate our posts/reviews accordingly!

We always want to know if you like what we post! =)

  • SquidFlicks Surprise!

    SquidFlicks Surprise!

    Official SquidFlicks Announcement

Well, a few days ago I informed you all of BIG changes coming to SquidFlicks. Well, some have already taken place, like the new design!

The biggest surprise is one that Patrick and I have been saving for a while now – we have a new editor on the site! Say hello to Dakota Thomas, a fellow film enthusiast and director whose works we have featured on the site in the past. He has a very large library of moves, and has graciously offered to help us take on the hard job of reviewing all sorts of movies and lessen our work load while Horrorhut is under production.

If you are interested in becoming an author or editor of SquidFlicks, please visit the contact page, or visit the Guest Editor page, which is another new feature I will explain below!

  • The Movie Marathon – March 2008

    [poll=2]

This poll has been up for almost 3 weeks now, but it may be confusing to some. We plan to have a movie marathon and documentary as one of the many OSS/HHP projects. We want to know what series of horror movie you would like us to feature! Vote away! The poll will close by March 19 26, which is next a Wednesday! Voting has been extended due to the awesome response that we have had! Patrick has also made an AWESOME trailer for the feature! See below!

VOTING ENDS ON 3/26/08 at 11:59:59 Central Standard Time

This is also how future polls will be presented on our new template! This post is a ‘sticky’ topic, which means it will stay on the very top of the page, even if new posts are made after it. (They appear in order below, don’t worry!)

  • Dumb and Dumber

    Dumb and Dumber

    Intro

When Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) meets a vexing young woman while he drives her to the airport, he decides that he has found the woman of his dreams, Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly), and the briefcase that she ‘left’ behind. He convinces his friend and roommate, Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) that they should go to Aspen, California (or Colorado, your choice) to find new opportunities, get out of Rhode Island, and deliver Mary’s forgotten briefcase. They set off on their journey with absolutely no idea how to get to Aspen and have many run-ins with locals and the criminals that want the ransom money in the briefcase.

When its all over and done with, the day is saved by these two clueless boobs!

    Super SquidFlicks Announcement

This is an announcement to all SquidFlicks readers – we are undergoing some seriously huge maintenance and possibly even a server change over the next few days.

SquidFlicks will be better optimized, faster loading, and better looking when it’s all done and over with. I am not sure when that will be though, so hold on tight! We continue to grow, and that’s why I am happy to announce these strenuous and work-filled days that will be coming to the site for me!

As for reviews , we are sorry for the 1-month-long delay – Patrick and I are writing them as I post this!

There is another huge surprise coming up for you readers, look for another news post within the next 48 hours few days or so! =)

  • Spanish 2 Video – HOY (Today Show)

While we continue to work on Horrorhut, I totally forgot to announce the release of another short film, which is our high school Spanish 2 class’s video entry io the Spanish Feria (completion) this Tuesday. We hope that it will place!

It is a Spanish rendition of the ‘Today’ show complete with Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker, and commercial! Enjoy!
