  • HorrorHut Update

Due to the holidays the filming of the first two shows will commence next week, after Christmas. We will film the first two shows back to back so that we can launch them around the first of the year.

    I Am Legend

    SquidFlicks Box Office HitΒ

As you may or may not already know, Will Smith’s performance in the movie that SquidFlicks previously previewed, I am Legend, has broken the box office all-time high for December release weekends. Grossing well over 76.5 million dollars, it easily passed all other competition.

It seems that our preview was pretty accurate – this looks like a great movie, and I want to see it so that we can share the review with others! =)

P.S. This is the first in another new feature of SquidFlicks – Box Office Hits and Box Office Blunders!

  • HorrorHut Update

Click here for Teaser trailer for the upcoming online show, “HorrorHut”.

We hope to start filming this week for the debut episode which we hope to have up before Christmas!!! Could this be the present that SquidFlicks has for its viewers? Maybe. You’ll have to keep checking in to find out! =)

  • Some Upcoming Reviews

I have been bogged down lately with school and other projects, so I have not kept up with the reviews as I needed to have been. There are, however, several reviews that are still being written behind the scenes here…

The list to come (hopefully) before the end of the month includes in no particular order:

    • Dodgeball
    • Old School
    • Castaway
    • Airplane
    • The Office (NEW! TV Series reviews are coming soon!) =o
    • Blades of Glory
    • Pursuit of Happiness

Like I said, it’s not set in concrete, and there could *possibly* be more reviews and a special Christmas treat if you are good to SquidFlicks! πŸ˜‰

Tell your friends! We are so happy to see our subscriber count rise! =)

    An Omega Squid Studios/Horrorhut Production

    SquidFlicks Special Preview

    Summary:

In the tradition of Joe Bob Briggs’ “Monstervision” and William Shatners “Full Moon Fright Night” HorrorHut is a tribute to the late night horror show. Host Shelby Jones introduces a independent film or two, usually of the horror genre, and sometimes something out of the sci-fi, fantasy, and suspense genres, or anything that features a monster or serial killer. Between breaks, Shelby explains more on the film’s history, makes several jokes, and also includes wacky Q&A sessions with special guests, as well as extra-campy re-enactments of each movie’s most-gruesome moment.

  • Thanksgiving

SquidFlicks would like to wish all of our readers and subscribers a happy Thanksgiving holiday. Most of you probably are off from work or out of school for today through Friday, and we here at SquidFlicks want you to have a great one!

Who knows, you might even go to see a movie! And where would you go to find out if it’s good or not? πŸ˜‰

I’m gone for now (but I’ll be back!)

  • Policy Change

I have decided to make a slight policy change for SquidFlicks – now you can post comments without having to register! This allows our visitors who spend less time here post their opinions quickly and conveniently!

You will still have to enter your name and email for security purposes, and some comments may not appear instantly due to our comment spam filter. All held comments will be reviewed personally before they are posted so that we can thwart spam as best as possible!

Now don’t get me wrong, I would love for you to join the blog, but I understand you may not want to mess with it. I would appreciate you leaving a comment or subscribing to our feed or even referring us to your friends just as much as you joining the blog! Thanks for all of your support, and even though this has been a slower month, we plan to bring lots more content to the site!

Edit: I am also working on the blog’s tag cloud!

  • Feedburner Integration

Well, I have been working on making SquidFlicks even easier to subscribe to by adding the email subscription box, and you can see how many users subscribe to the blog from the stat box above the email subscription box.

I have also created an HTML SquidFlicks news banner with Feedburner, which allows you to add a snippet of code to your own website, email signature, myspace page, etc. and have it show the latest headlines from SquidFlicks! Here an example, just click the link below the box to get the HTML code and place it where you please:

  • SquidFlicks 2.0

    SquidFlicks Logo

After exiting the beta of the site and celebrating SquidFlicks’ launch last week, I decided that some changes needed to be made. In addition to optimizing the site, I created a new logo, layout, and color scheme for the site. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! =)

I also consolidated the SquidFlicks feed with Feedburner, which allows you to subscribe to the feed easier and helps us to track the number of subscribers and find out what reviews are the most popular on the site.

Last but not least, I have added a Google Adsense ad box to the left sidebar. This will generate ads based on the content of the site, so when you are reading a review on say, Halloween, a list of online sources where you can buy the movie and related merchandise will appear in the ad box. This will help you find our recommended movies, and help us to raise a little money to keep this great Omega Squid Network site running!

Tell your friends about us – We’ll keep watching, you keep reading!

  • SquidFlicks goes live!

Please tell your friends about this site, and join our site feed – it will allow you to keep track of all the latest events and posts that are published!

We hope to continue to grow in content, and we hope you will continue to read and watch our recommended movies! =)
