  • Horror anthology Zombificador launches Indiegogo campaign; H. G. Lewis, Bill Moseley, Michael Berryman Attached

zombificador-hg-lewisMugworth Productions has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to raise money for their latest production, a horror anthology titled Zombificador. Supporters can donate anywhere from $1 to $5,000. Perks include producer credits, limited edition Blu-rays, autographed posters and scripts, memorabilia and even an appearance the movie. All contributors are also invited to appear in a DVD featurette.

Upon successfully securing the funding, iconic filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis has agreed to return to the director’s chair for Zombificador. Lewis is affectionately known as the “Godfather of Gore” after making such classic splatter fests as Two Thousand Maniacs, Blood Feast, Color Me Blood Red and The Wizard of Gore. Now he’s ready to create what promises to be his bloodiest movie ever!

Lewis will direct from a script written by Marc Fernandez. Zombificador is an old-fashioned anthology movie with five interconnecting stories. From big, fat monsters with the ability of transforming people into savage creatures, to human-sized mutant bugs, along with talking puppets and silent psycho killers, Zombificador has it all. The movie will utilize traditional, practical special effects.

Genre favorites Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Repo! The Genetic Opera), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) and Todd Farmer (My Bloody Valentine, Jason X) are attached to star in the film. Other recognizable faces are in talks to be involved.

With a great filmmaker, script and cast all in place, the only thing missing from Zombificador is funding. Production will begin as soon as financing is in place, so bid generously at igg.me/at/zombificador

Follow Zombificador on Twitter and Facebook for updates on the crowd funding campaign and the film.

  • Jurasic Park 4 production halted, creative staff to be tweaked

    Jurassic-Park_Logo

Bad news on the Jurassic Park 4 front – you do know they are making this, right? – the production has been halted, allegedly because of disagreements between the creative staff and the production people. An age-old Hollywood conflict, the production house usually wins out, tossing the folks that don’t want to listen to the money and bringing in new yes-men. As of now, director Colin Trevorrow is still in charge, but things could change in an instant.

    fantasm-promo

Filmmaker Kyle Kuchta is proud to present the official trailer for his horror convention documentary FANTASM:

    http://youtu.be/bvzZRoh1g90

Fantasm analyzes the tight-knit community that attends horror conventions in an exploration of how the genre brings fans together. “Fantasm was filmed over six conventions, and I felt myself growing closer and closer to the genre that we all love so much,” says Kuchta. “It means a lot to be able to share that love with people, and that’s what Fantasm is all about.”

In addition to a variety of devoted fans, Fantasm features insight from popular horror actors and filmmakers, including Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Tom Atkins (Escape from New York), Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) and more.

With production complete, Kuchta is currently focused on editing Fantasm. The documentary will be submitted to film festivals in the fall, with an official premiere to be announced. An abridged version of the film will screen for free at Syracuse University’s Shemin Auditorium as part of the school’s Class of 2013 Film Showcase on May 4th.

  • Horrible Sci-Fi Speeches

We all know that science fiction is a movie genre full of inspirational and amazing stories like those from Star Wars and Star Trek, but there are also some pretty horrific moments like the ones shared by high-quality productions like Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus…

It’s a late share, but it’s worth your time anyway!

  • Hiccups with the Apocalypse marathon footage

    missing-camera

I am sorry that the marathon footage didn’t make it on the site in time to be relevant for the world’s impending doom on December 21, but we’ve been having some strange camera/footage importing errors between Patrick’s camera and our editing system. The entire marathon is completely edited and ready for export. The problem is that we cannot seem to get Final Cut to export the footage – instead of copying the footage from the camera to the editing system’s hard drive, the footage seems to have remained on the camera. Final Cut doesn’t like that, and will not export the footage until we figure out how to save a copy of the footage locally to the editing computer.

I’m putting all my effort into getting this fixed, because Pat and I had a great amount of content and discussion over the entire apocalypse movie genre, and we really want to share that discussion with all of our loyal fans and fellow movie buffs!

And before I forget to mention – Merry Christmas from your pals at SquidFlicks! Stay tuned for some holiday themed content.

  • Awesome Die Hard Series music video

This is an oldie, but a recently discovered goodie. Please enjoy.

    Yippee-yo-kye-yay-MOTHER-F*CKER!

  • I finally saw The Dark Knight Rises

So…confession time – I just got to see The Dark Knight Rises as a late birthday present. It was at the local dollar cinema, and the film was all kinds of worn out. All those lines and pops didn’t distract from the sheer awesomeness of the film. Expect a review soon-ish!

  • SquidFlicks Reunion Special!

Well SquidFlickians, I have some great news – Patrick will be making the trek up to Lexington for the weekend, which gives me the chance to unveil a new (and probably unnecessary) category of SquidFlicks fun – a reunion special!

It’s going to be a pretty busy weekend, so there’s no guarantee that we’ll get everything we’d like to get done, but here’s a wishlist I’ve compiled:

    • A special video update
    • A new digital short
    • Video Review of Sinister
    • Possible movie theater marathon (watching 3 movies back to back at the dollar theater)

Plus, there’s an awesome new graphic for the site! I hope you all enjoy the reunion stuff that we get done – stay tuned for further developments.

  • Criticize the Dark Knight Rises?

    You mad, bro?

Adamant fans are loosing their minds and posting some pretty vicious responses to the handful of negative reviews that The Dark Knight Rises has garnered all across the internet. Nolan’s telling everyone to chill, because he (and anyone sensible) knows this movie will be awesome, no matter what one out of every ten “professional” critics thinks.

I think the only thing sillier than fans attacking the negative reviews would be the reviewing critics themselves. Who thinks this movie is going to be a letdown? I just can’t think there’d be any other reason for a negative review besides serving as link bait (and ad revenue from all the raging fans).

Anywho, I’m just ready for the weekend so I can watch this thing!

    Wild Fact:
Did you know that Bane is a republican, and Nolan wrote his part to defile presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and the entire Republican Party? Naw, that’s impossible. Silly Rush Limbaugh. Seriously, you’re a sillyhead. Batman has no politics, only justice!
