  • Tis the season for the Squid!

With 12 days left until Christmas eve, aka Squidmas, it’s time to start celebrating! Be prepared for a season full of reviews and more, courtesy of the Big Squid himself, Shelby!

I have quite a few reviews that will be released over the 12 day period! You all are well aware of my lack of reviews this year. I promise this week will catch me up! Are you ready?

  • Group movie review?

Tomorrow presents a predicament for SquidFlicks – four staff members will be present for a screening of New Moon. I myself am not a fan, nor are any of the other members. I think as a treat we will do a four-way review and an average rating on the movie.

This review format may also be used in the future! =)

  • Latest improvements

Just a quick post to let you know about a (hopefully obvious) change. The NEW and refreshed SquidFlicks logo has replaced the OLD and historic logo at the top of the website.

Do you like? It’s yet another piece of the SquidFlicks 2.0 experience!sflogo

  • Post-Halloween Update

Hello SquidFlickians! Shelby here with a video update!

Check out what I had to say about SquidFlicks’ second birthday and Halloween night on Third Street, as well as some events to come in the next month!

  • Official SquidFlicks Pumpkin Carved

Tonight was a historical one for SquidFlicks. Staff member (and my girlfriend) Stephanie Sikes helped design the first ever SquidFlicks pumpkin! I carved the sucker, but she gets the credit for a fantastic design job. Lit pictures are coming Halloween, but here’s a preview:

sf_pumpkin-insideWhat do you think? The final version has the extra marker wiped off, BTW.

  • Quick site modifications

Hello SquidFlickians! Shelby here with some quick updates and a bit of a plan for the next week.

I took it upon myself to spruce up the site a little. I updated lots of code and added some new plugins to give everyone a taste of some upcoming features in SquidFlicks 2.0, which is still not fully ready for public release. The biggest change is the comment system, which is now more streamlined and offers an easier way to give input on our posts!

Be prepared for an announcement of our SquidFlicks Birthday/Halloween bash and the release of Halloween: Season of the Bitch!

Also due this week – some reviews of recent movies! Ha!

  • Director Roman Polanski arrested

    Roman-Polanski

Director Roman Polanski, known for a storied career spanning four decades, was arrested Saturday in Zurich, Switzerland on an active US warrant for a crime committed in 1978, the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Polanski was the husband of Sharon Tate, who was brutally murdered by Charles Manson’s cult, Helter Skelter in 1969 and has since led a turbulent life. He was arrested in the late 70s after the crime, but he fled the country and has been wanted ever since.

His dark and storied life can be seen through his often brutal and violent films, like Rosemary’s baby, Repulsion, The Tenant, and Chinatown.

  • The Sequels that BOMBED

    explosion

I found this great image featuring the biggest bombing sequels of the past 25 years, and I thought You might like to see for yourself just how awful some of these movies were. I mean, I have never even heard of the existence of some of these titles, so you KNOW they must be terrible!

If you’ve seen any of these films, please share. I foresee a possible movie marathon with some of these titles just so we can rip them apart ourselves!

Enjoy. The image is courtesy of [moviefill.com]

  • A gust of August

Hello SquidFlicks! The infamous one-update months have come and should be going soon. Regular content is returning within the next few days, so be sure and come back! It’s been crazy here at HQ, with SquidFlicks 2.0 being developed, football practice, my new computer not working 100%, video editing (secret!), tons of AP work, and other projects are competing with time for me.

I am really excited to announce that SquidFlicks 2.0 will be ready for public release for the Third Second birthday of SquidFlicks! Mark it on your calendars! (It should go live sometime during October, so it may be an early present!)

Keep reading and we’ll keep reviewing!
