  • SquidFlicks Storm of the Century!

As you may have heard, most of the Midwest has been hit by an ice storm. Unfortunately, SquidFlicks HQ in West KY took a direct blow from Mother Nature, and is now experiencing massive power outages. Shelby and Patrick are caught right in the middle of the blackout, while I have escaped to a hotel in Jackson, TN.
Electricity is not expected to be back on for 3-5 more days, so until then, readers, send us some warm vibes!

  • SquidFlicks goes Maximum Overdrive

If you happened to visit the site at any time yesterday afternoon or throughout the night, you may have noticed that you were not let in. Well, there was a massive failure of one the many anti-spam features of the site; one of which caused every user to be banned from the site. After much hacking and searching, I found the solution this morning and got the mess cleaned up.

I am sorry for any trouble this may have caused you!

Everything should work fine now, but I think the site may have a mind of its own ala Maximum Overdrive.

If you are experiencing any problems accessing the site, please contact us and we will try to fix the problem ASAP.

  • If movie posters told the truth…

Wouldn’t it be great if you could see a movie poster and not be fooled by deceptive marketing? It comes as a great disappointment to most when they see a great looking movie poster or trailer, decide to watch said movie, and are sorry they did watch it afterwards.

Well, fear not; holytaco.com has taken some of Hollywood’s biggest misleading movie posters, and performed some slight revisions to better display what the movies really are to prospective viewers.

These graphics are great! See for yourself:

What do you think about misleading movie posters? Do you think that more resources should be spent on improving the movie rather than tricking people into watching it? Tell us below!

  • The Stranger Strikes

    the-stranger-strikes

Really bad news from SquidFlicks HQ. After a few nights of increased security, the creature that plagued the offices last week seemed to have given up on its seemingly sinister goal.

Unfortunately recent events have proven that this is not the case. A yet-to-be identified security guard was found maimed in a break room located near the ventilation system servicing area. Footage from the camera shows that the creature was cold-blooded and methodical with the kill.

I fear for our safety; this thing may already be inside the building. I will have the vents checked immediately for any intrusions. Stay tuned.

  • The Stranger Returns

    Snowman 001

More disturbing news from SquidFlicks HQ. The mysterious figure sighted earlier this week appeared once again on the security footage overnight. It seems as though there is something it is looking for inside…

Stronger security measures will be implemented throughout the rest of the month to prevent the creature from getting inside and and doing whatever harm it may want to do. Stay tuned for more updates on the location of the Stranger.

  • Urban Nights Press Release

    Patrick Farmer’s Urban Nights

Fulton, KY (osquid.com); December 15, 2008 – Publisher of online media and interactive content, Omega Squid Studios (OSS), has formally announced the commencement of work on Urban Nights, a film written and directed by Patrick Farmer of Horrorhut Productions.

“This is going to be a ground-breaking new project for both the company [Omega Squid Studios] and the members of the viewing audience.”

    – Shelby Jones, owner of Omega Squid Studios

Urban Nights is an anthology-one film comprised of three smaller features-much like The Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt. The stories are set in an ‘urban’ environment.

The production is utilizing local talent and resources in several areas. From the actors to the locations, the film is a collective community effort, and all assistance is appreciated.

"It is going to be a great film; I’m proud of the script. The three stories are, to me, very original and entertaining; You get different feelings throughout, whether it’s a comedic or more of a serious tone, and they do deliver. I am thankful for everyone involved who have put so much into the project, and believing in it as much as I do; without them, this film could never become a reality."

    – Patrick Farmer, director of Urban Nights

Producer Shelby Jones of Omega Squid Studios is currently looking for those who wish to contribute funds to help cover the cost of the production. It is estimated that another $500 will need to be raised so that necessary equipment and other supplies can be purchased. Sponsors will receive mention in the film’s credits. Please contact OSS for more information.

Urban Nights has its own website, which is currently under construction. OSS plans to have trailers of the film and cast bios up as soon as possible. You can visit the site at www.urbannightsfilm.com. Please direct inquiries to contact@osquid.com.

  • Update from Patrick

Hey Guys! I just wanted to say hey, and give y’all an detailed update with what all is going on. I want to apologize for not writing a review in FOREVER. I know that they haven’t been coming out fast as they should, and in the numbers that they used to be. Hopefully in 09 we can get on the ball with that.

Shelby and I have been running like chickens with their heads cut off here lately trying to get rolling on "Urban Nights," and trying to maintain a happy medium with SquidFlicks. I have a great slew of ideas for videos for SquidFlicks in 2009, but keep the word down on that until the New Years post.

What I can talk about is what we have in store for Christmas this year. In November, me and Shelby agreed to try and have a "Silent Night, Deadly Night" movie marathon for Christmas, but time got the best of us and we had to scrap that till next year. As mentioned in the previous post, we filmed a video special the other night with Seth Middleton and Derek Bradley; The Christmas Edition of SquidFlicks Reel 2 Reel, will be up, and we talked about "Yule Die" with the actor and director. Christmas-themed reviews, and a short Christmas Special film will all be up in the next few days. I hope that you enjoy the Holiday season with your favorite movie review site, SquidFlicks.com!

    Peace, Love, Blame Eli Roth

  • What’s changed: Movie Studio logos of the past century

Over the past century, the great American movie studio companies have changed almost as much as their logos did. See this great article that shows us what the logos looked like over the years.

Also, as a trivia tidbit, you learn the names of the MGM lions over the years! 😛
