    Intro:

    While growing up some of your best memories can come from hanging out with your friends over the summers. Wither it be going on dangerous, exciting adventures in your backyard, to playing Marco Polo at the local city swimming pool. You can grow and break friendships over the course of one summer, some of your childhood friends will stay with you throughout high school and beyond, while others you will part ways with and who will become only faces you see, but the times you spend together will stay with you, like the boys in the 1986 release of Rob Reiner’s “Stand By Me.”

  • The Village

    Intro:

    Everything seems to be in place and perfect for a small colonial era township located in a large clearing and surrounded by woods, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Mysterious creatures lie beyond the border of the town, and no one is allowed to cross the border for fear that the creatures will exact their revenge. After a few appearances by the creatures, an accident befalls a young couple. Death will occur if medicine is not obtained, and an idea to obtain it is brought before the powerful town council of elders.

  • Feast

    Intro:

    There are some people out that you just can’t stand. Like in school, you are always put in a group with someone who you cannot tolerate. In the end, you have to learn to work with people you hate, wither it be for a grade, a project, or to survive, like the people in the 2005 release of John Gulager’s “Feast.” (more…)

    Intro:

    When you live with parents who NEVER leave the house, any time they leave to go to the grocery or go out for dinner, you’ll always happy to have the house to yourself for a little while.   • Creepshow

    Note: This is Dakota Thomas’ first review as an official SquidFlicks author. You may have read  about his other productions, and many a moon ago, his debut as a SquidFlicks contributor. He likes to help out when he’s not working on a big production! =)

    Intro:

    During the prime time of 80s horror films this little gem was released.  This is the child of horror masters George A. Romero and Stephen King.  An anthology film with five terrifying tales of the macabre.  With an all star cast this film went on to gross nearly twenty million dollars.

  • Dan in Real Life

    Intro:

    A single father who is the writer of a popular self-help column in the newspaper has always been very protective of his three daughters. After all, they’re the only thing he has left. As the time of the annual family reunion is upon the four, the trouble really starts for Dan (Steve Carell). He meets a wonderful woman in a bookstore who seems to be a perfect match for Dan. Turns out the Date could soon be an in-law: it’s his brother’s girlfriend. During the course of the reunion, many awkward moments and events occur, leading to a happy ending for all.

  • The Lost Boys:The Tribe

    Intro:

    “The Next Chapter…Of the Cult Phenomenon” thats what is said in the trailer to the 2008 straight to DVD release of P.J. Pesce’s “The Lost Boys:The Tribe.” The twenty year in the making sequel to the cult classic 1987 film, “The Lost Boys.” Personally I’ve been keeping up with this film since i heard about it last October, and i was thrilled when I was able to buy my own copy of the DVD this past Tuesday.     Intro:

    When Gotham is overrun with the worst of the worst criminals, Batman decides to go into action. While trying to discover what he truely is, newly-elected Defense Attorney for the city, Harvey Dent, goes on a public manhunt of all wrongdoers in the city. After a big raid on the mob and its banks, the Joker offers his service to the gang. He vows to solve their problem – The Batman – for a price. But the Joker doesn’t really care about the money, or anything else, he just wants to see his age old nemesis.

  • Summer Movies you Can’t Pass up – 2008

    Summer

    Summer is often a slow time of the year – you get more time to entertain yourself instead of work, and a prime example of that is the lack of content added to SquidFlicks in the past couple of months! =o

    However, I have been keeping an eye on all the releases coming out this summer, and I have compiled a list of must-see sumer movies.

    • The Dark Knight
    • The X-Files: I Want to Believe
    • Kung Fu Panda
    • WALL-E
    • Get Smart
    • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
    • Hellboy II: The Golden Army
    • Journey to the Center of the Earth

    Unfortunately I have only been able to see a few of the many great movies listed above. I plan to see them all and get reviews as soon as I possibly can, but that shouldn’t keep you from seeing them!

    Jackie Moon (Will Ferrel) is at the top of his game: he is the owner of a platinum single, Love Me Sexy, and is the proud owner of the Flint, Michigan Tropics, an ABA basketball team. He is the star forward, head coach, and as previously mentioned the owner of the Tropics. The only problem is that the ABA is being merged with the NBA, and only the best four teams of the league at the end of the season will become NBA franchises. Jackie then rushes to get the Tropics to forth place overall and win an NBA berth. Let’s get Tropical!
