    squidflicks-logo-eye

Fellow SquidFlickians, I am leaving today for my five-week stay in the Governor’s Scholar Program. I will not be able to participate fully in much of the SquidFlicks Summer School content, but I am leaving you in good hands – Patrick Farmer will take over as head editor during my absence. I will continue to post minor updates whenever I can. See you  at the end of July! I have a surprise for you if you’re good! (actually two surprises….) Bottom line here is: YOU BETTER BE GOOD!

Also, SquidFlicks has a Facebook group. Join it or I wont be your friend anymore! Kidding! But join it please! =) Go here – http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/group.php?gid=93904702509

See ya! I can be reached by the SquidFlicks contact form or through Patrick if you need me!

  • Drive-In Massacre

    drive-in-massacre

    Intro:

Drive-ins. When you hear that phrase you think of a place where you could go to and have no worries, no fears, no responsibilities of the outside world. You could get lost on a Saturday night in the madness that is, was, and always will be the Drive-In Movie. You’d never think that a place where you could lose you imagination, could be a place where you have to fear for your life! Like in the 1977 release of Stu Segall’s “Drive-In Massacre.”

  • Bubba Ho-Tep

    bubba-ho-tep

    Intro:

There is a fascination that seems to reach certain celebrity die hard fans. When their beloved idol passes on into the afterlife, they have a hard time dealing with it. They might say “oh he/she faked their own death, and they are in Cuba.” The two celebrities that get this the most are Tupac and the King himself, Elvis Presley. Now I personality believe, sadly, that they have both deceased, but its fun to imagine they are not, and indeed faked their own death, like Elvis did in the 2002 release of Don Coscarelli’s “Bubba Ho-Tep.”

  • Star Trek (2009)

    Intro:

The latest Star Trek film boldly goes where no one has gone before, and it pays off big time. What is quite possibly one of the most popular Sci-Fi franchises of all time received a series reboot with director J.J. Abrams at the helm. It also is a great way to start off a summer filled with blockbuster releases. Will it set phasers on fun? Let’s find out! =)

NOTE: I am not a Trekkie; I love Sci-Fi films and know basic Trek facts, but I am no expert on the subject. I am writing this review for those who want to see a movie that is both entertaining and different. (aka the layman’s review)

  • Terminator Salvation

    Intro:

The future. Many of us wonder what is in store for us all years from now. What if you knew something horrible was going to happen, not only to you, but to the entire human race, and you knew that you would have to change it. Well when that time comes for many of us, we are uncertain as to what we have to do. What we expect doesn’t always turn out the way it should, Just like in the 2009 release of McG’s “Terminator Salvation.”

  • SquidFlicks Psycho Mothers Day Movie Marathon

SquidFlicks-Movie-Marathon-logoThe second installment of the SquidFlicks Movie Marathon series is a special Mother’s Day episode featuring the Psycho movie series. Also featured is a special promo of an upcoming short film!

There are two parts to the marathon. Part one is the reviews from the SquidFlicks staff, and part two is reviews of the Psycho series from two SquidFlicks YouTube contributors, Jdog and Nicklert. I really appreciated their addition to the great marathon, and I hope you will too.

    Part 1:

    Part 2:

There are six videos from SquidFlicks Contributors Jdog and Nicklert. Check them out!

  • Monsters vs. Aliens

    Intro:

When a strange alien robot lands in San Francisco, it’s up to a top secret government organization to deploy its captured monsters to subdue the robot. It ends up being a shallow victory when the mother ship arrives with a full invasion force. So the question stands: Who will win in the ultimate battle-monsters, or aliens?

You’ll have to watch to find out!

  • How Deathly Hallows is being split

    harry_potter-logo

If you have heard any news about the Harry Potter series lately, it’s been all about the movies – notably the sixth film due for release this summer, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. However, in true production fashion, the seventh and final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is already underway.

Deathly Hallows will be split in to two movies, and new details are given on just how franchise producer David Heyman plans to make the split. It will occur “at a very tense cliffhanger”, he states.

I am looking forward to the Half-Blood Prince this summer, as well as Deathly Hallows in the coming year.

Do you think the split is a good idea? Tell us below!
