  • How hard could it be? DTV in 2009

Hopefully you have heard the news; All broadcasts in the United States will be changing to digital over the old analog, and if you don’t have a modern TV, you could be left out in the dark.

Many people don’t have TVs with the automatic DTV connection, and there are some solutions to remedy that problem. One of the most advertised solutions is a DTV converter box, which you can add to an existing TV set. There is a government rebate to be had when you purchase a converter as well. Two other solutions are available – subscribing to cable or satellite TV to receive digital content, or purchasing a modern TV that has a DTV adapter built into it.

Since many people have and will use the converter box, someone made this hilarious video showing just how confused some of the less-technical population will be when trying to hook the converter up to the TV.

    Enjoy!

EDIT: The first video was removed for copyright reasons (Seriously?) on youtube,  and I was able to find a second version! See it before it’s gone!

  • Sites we Like: Tastekid.com

A recent find of mine was a relatively new but ever growing http://www.tastekid.com/ website.

It takes a bunch of information you provide, and uses it to match movies, music, and other media to your tastes. While it is still new and has some glitches, it was pretty good at recommending items for my tastes.

I thought you all would like to see how well the machine can read your mind! o_O

  • Terminator Salvation Movie Poster

This is an awesome graphic for the new Terminator movie. Terminator Salvation, that is premiering May 29, 2009. I am looking forward to the movie, even though Ah-nold won’t be playing a major role. =(

I guess really the image is more of a flash video than a ‘image’ but it’s awesome anyway!

    Intro:

“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley!”

A tainted airline meal sends the entire crew of a dysfunctional passenger jet and threatens to send the entire plane to a fiery doom. It’s up to one man and a doctor on board to save the plane and everyone’s lives. It won’t happen before some interesting events, such as a fight with the autopilot.

  • SquidFlicks Video Reviews

A new video series is coming to SquidFlicks!

The new feature is SquidFlicks Video Reviews, which is a series in which one or more reviewers rate a film in a fashion much like that of the Movie Marathons, but for single titles. They will serve as an accompaniment to written reviews of the movie on the site. The videos will be less than 10 minutes in length and will review featured and independent films alike.

Our premiere episode has been filmed, and it’s part of the new Super SquidFlicks Thanksgiving we have planned!

There will be a post highlighting just what will be happening in the Super SquidFlicks Thanksgiving tomorrow! I think you will be quite pleased with the surprise we have for you!

  • Weekend Box Office: Nov. 14-16

Big big weekend here folks – the much anticipated release of the latest 007 movie, Quantum of Solace led to big box office bank rolls! The movie had the highest number of tickets sold in the entire history of the franchise (which spans 4 decades). I hope to see this one soon myself!

Another high-roller for this past weekend was Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which debuted last weekend. It finished with a little over half of last week’s total at $36.1 million.

Role Models finished over $10 million for another week, and HSM3 is STILL in the top 5! Madness!

Kudos to the top 5 for this weekend – and let’s see what happens next weekend!

  • Weekend Box Office: Nov. 7-9

BIg numbers this weekend! The movie season is finally upon us – lots of big name films and franchises are gearing up and letting the floodgates of movies swing open! Just don’t drown!

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa raked in just over $63 million on its opening weekend, more than all the other top 5 weekend films put together! I myself enjoyed Madagascar, and I would like to see the sequel sometime soon.

Another opening film was Role Models, a movie about a man who has to mentor two very troubled kids. One is a huge dork, the other is a pain in the @ss! It also had a great start at $19.3 million.

HSM3 hangs in the top 5 for another week, almost earning another $10 million to its account. Other films left from last week were Changeling and Zack and Miri.

    See you next week!

  • The Bond Songs you Didn’t hear

    James-Bond

This is some great stuff! I found an awesome article about the James Bond/007 movies and their theme music selection. After reading, I found out that some big name celebrities have recorded theme music for several movies in the Bond series over the past 40 years, and that many of those themes went unheard.

The best part about the information is that you can actually listen to the music! (With the exception of two missing tracks.) There really were some great variations here that surprisingly didn’t make the cut.

    Here’s a condensed list:
