  • Thoughts on Ben Affleck as Batman, or Batfleck

I let this linger in the draft pile for too long (what else is new). The outrage from the initial announcement has decreased, and Affleck’s image was somewhat bolstered by recent media at SDCC this summer, strengthening my argument below.

Often on very different planes of existence, both comic book nerds and mainstream Batman fans likely can sympathize with their feelings once news came out that Ben Affleck (of Daredevil and Gigli infamy) was tapped as the new Dark Knight.

  • Full Moon Fridays: Full Moon Cinematic Universe? 5 reasons why it could work.

10259720_10203610938892871_8737883809554651982_nIn 2008 Marvel started a firestorm with the release of the first film in their cinematic universe. In the years that followed Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, DC Entertaiment/Warner Bros., and recently announced Universal Studios have all followed suit to create shared universes that connect their respective properties, ranging from superheroes to classic monsters. • Neighbors

How would you feel if a fraternity moved into the house next door? Depends on where you are in life I suppose. It would be pretty cool if you are a fresh-faced college freshman, free from any real responsibility and down to party. If you were a young married couple with a young child, you probably wouldn’t be as excited. How would you handle a situation like that? Move away? Make life a living hell? To an independent observer, it would be entertaining to watch!

  • Revelation Trail DVD Release Date Announced

Retail DVD Cover (US, CA)There is something so appealing when you take a Western setting and throw in some zombie carnage!  The story of “Revelation Trail” is an inspiring one to all independent filmmakers out there.  Shot in 20 days and on a budget of only $34,000 the film takes place “In the late nineteenth-century, a holy man known only as the Preacher (Daniel Van Thomas) confronts unspeakable evil as a gruesome power consumes the frontier. Standing between ruin and salvation, he joins forces with the town Marshal (Daniel Britt), a man with his own set of demons, in a savage fight against the risen dead and the evils of the living. Along the way, the men discover which lines they’re willing to cross in the name of survival and witness the depths people reach through the power of belief — for good and ill alike.” (more…)

  • I’ll be Back, in Terminator Genisys

    terminator-genisys-104186

Ahnold leaked the name for the newest Terminator film installment, the fifth in the series and the first to have him back since the events of Terminator Salvation (which to be fair was an incredibly important film for the advancement of the Terminator timeline, and DID include the prototype T-800 Model terminators, aka the first ‘skin’ covered models meant for infiltration and elimination of high profile human targets).

Does the spelling of ‘genesis’ mean that Skynet has a new surprise for the resistance? A new AI/manufacturing process that leads to more ‘human’ terminator models? It could mean bad news for John Connor and Company.

The war against the machines comes again July 2015. Will we survive?

  • Interstellar Update – New Trailer, Website

    interstellar-site

Ok, the movie that I am most looking forward to in 2014 is Interstellar. It’s looking better with every glimpse that Christopher Nolan allows to be released. In fact, this trailer is the one that he presented when making an unexpected appearance at SDCC with lead actor Mathew McConaughey the past weekend.

In addition to a new trailer that gives more views of the ‘Interstellar’ aspect of the film, there’s a cryptic movie website as well. Try poking around and see if you can find any surprises. Hint: Try visiting at different times of the day, the scene changes accordingly and new clues appear in the scene.

It’s really starting to seem like this is the spiritual successor to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Stay tuned ’til November, folks!

  • Magic School Bus to return

    magicschoolbus

The classic educational TV show ‘The Magic School Bus’ will be returning, with a twist – the new show will be CGI instead of the traditional 2-D animation style. Honestly, I think it will be kind of strange but hey, who knows. It’s very likely that this will be yet another icon from childhood that will be bastardized by renewal. I’m trying to be positive here people!

What do you think? I know the news is a little dated, but we have ’til 2016 before we can really see the finished product and come to a developed opinion.
