We have our first visual! A pseudo-movie poster by Entertainment Weekly shows headliners Tom Hardy (Max Rockatansky) and Charlize Theron (Imperator Furiosa)
And because Patrick and I are unabashed fans of this franchise (and its highly anticipated sequel after 30 years), a countdown to May 15, 2015 will be placed on the site. Get hyped.
Nothing amazing or groundbreaking here, folks, but I just wanted to touch base and make a quick announcement.
In a desperate attempt to bolster our video uploads and keep content on the site fresh, I am testing out using my newly acquired Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro to record, edit, and upload videos. While these won’t be stunning displays of modern video techniques, they WILL be content and if they are of suitable quality then this will be a good route to take for future content.
I will be putting this to the test over the rest of the summer. Let me know what you think. I am FREE from college and that means I have some time for SF again. Let’s rock this thing!
Happy Friday the 13th Squidflickians! You’ve gotten your lucky rabbit’s foot, you’ve steered clear of all of the mirrors in the house, and you are ready to embark on a trek or two to Crystal Lake (or Manhattan, Hell, and/or space). ESPECIALLY SPACE -Shelby 😀 (more…)
Dave Chappelle opens up, explains why he decided to walk away from Comedy Central 10 years ago. He makes a great point.
Money gives me choices…but it’s not the end all be all.
Family and your sanity/health should always come before money. He’s already been able to live his dream, and our ‘demands’ that he come back are pretty selfish. I think it will be a while, but Dave will come back to comedy on his own terms. I think we will all be laughing even harder when that day comes!
It’s officially happening, folks! The long anticipated sequel to Dumb and Dumber (1994), featuring the original Harry and Lloyd (Jeff Daniels & Jim Carrey).
Here’s the synopsis: 20 years after the dimwits set out on their first adventure, they head out in search of one of their long lost children in the hope of gaining a new kidney.
I’ll see you all at the theaters in November – be sure to stock up on Turbolax!
Here’s something different – Morgan Freeman illustrates the confusing nature of our universe by inhaling helium and speaking on Through the Wormhole (which is a really neat show if you are into educational & entertaining programming.) For someone who has been able to make a career out of his soothing baritone voice, the helium shift really strikes you.
I think he could be a cameo in the 17th Alvin and the Chipmunks movie! Let him narrate, Shawshank style. I think that the industry would collapse upon itself in awe.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. ill. by Stephen Gammell
CBS films will be turning one of the creepiest sets of folk lore and spooky story anthologies (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) into a motion picture. I grew up reading these awesomely eerie tales compiled by Alvin Schwartz, and there are many stories that would really be neat to see done in a film setting.
The best part is that the pitch was made by Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan, who wrote the last four Saw films. If you are familiar with the series, it specialized in being compartmentalized horror with twists, shocks, and stunning reveals. The only way I think it could be handled better is if Guillermo del Toro was to head up the project as director. (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Pacific Rim, MAMA)
No timelines set yet for production, much less any idea on how the movie(s) will be made. (If they go for a classic anthology style ala Creepshow, Bodybags, or Cat’s Eye, this will be a juggernaut film).
I’m really excited, what about you? What was your favorite story from the books?

I’ll have to admit my perceptions of this film from the previews left me caged in a sense of contemporary redressing. Maybe that quip sounds a little bit overtly complicated. Let me simplify it. The previews left me certainly at odds with how the film was being fashioned. It looked like a packaged action vehicle for Robert Downey Jr.’s new claim to fame as action hero. (more…)

The appeal of family oriented sport movies were a big staple in the 90’s which stemmed back from the origins that The Bad News Bears started in the 70’s. For whatever reason there wasn’t a backlog of ripoffs or knock offs of this product during that era for whatever reason. When the 80’s ushered in it was a time of fantasy films for kids and it was still laid to rest. (more…)

If you and your friends want to sit down on a boring afternoon and have an endurance test to see who can make it through ‘The Wiz,’ I’ll gladly sit by with a stopwatch and see whose eyes begin to dart off first. (more…)
