  • Leno leaves the keys

Jay Leno wrapped up his final episode of The Jay Leno Show last night. He will be returning to The Tonight Show which was  previously hosted by Conan O’Brian.

Leno was ‘fired’ by Donald Trump. In his final monologue, Leno said, “It seems like just yesterday I was telling NBC this was not going to work. This show was supposed to be on for two years, but we got five months for good behavior.”

  • Jay Leno Stays at NBC; Moves to 9 PM Slot

If you’re a fan of late-night talk shows, you’ve heard of Jay Leno. You’ve also probably heard about Leno “retiring” from NBC in Spring of 2009.
    Not anymore.

On December 9, Leno and numerous NBC executives held a press conference to announce a venture into prime time television for the comedian. According to a Reuters.com story, the new one-hour show will air at 10 EST/9 CST, and will be the first program of its kind to run 6 days a week in US prime time. For all you “Tonight Show” faithful out there, the new show will still feature an opening monologue, and familiar comedy bits like “Headlines” and “Jaywalking”.
The only downfall of this move is that shows such as “Law and Order” will be pushed back an hour, causing other programs to be canceled.
Which isn’t a huge loss, really… I mean, “Lipstick Jungle”? Yeah, I don’t think I’ll miss that one.

My question to you, ladies and gentlemen of the blogosphere: Do you think this move will give NBC a much-needed push in ratings? Or will it not have a large enough effect for the company to overtake its competitors?
