The early 1980s were filled with fantastic futuristic sci-fi films.  Terminator & Blade Runner set the tone for many many films but Empire Pictures took the best of both worlds and combined them in the 1984 release of “Trancers.”  To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this sci-fi cult classic, Full Moon released the definitive edition of “Trancers” on Blu-Ray.  (more…)

  • Interstellar Update – New Trailer, Website

    interstellar-site

Ok, the movie that I am most looking forward to in 2014 is Interstellar. It’s looking better with every glimpse that Christopher Nolan allows to be released. In fact, this trailer is the one that he presented when making an unexpected appearance at SDCC with lead actor Mathew McConaughey the past weekend.

In addition to a new trailer that gives more views of the ‘Interstellar’ aspect of the film, there’s a cryptic movie website as well. Try poking around and see if you can find any surprises. Hint: Try visiting at different times of the day, the scene changes accordingly and new clues appear in the scene.

It’s really starting to seem like this is the spiritual successor to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Stay tuned ’til November, folks!

  • Prometheus

Director Ridley Scott looks to amaze the Sci-Fi Thriller world again with Prometheus. As any good Sci-fi fan knows, Scott is the man responsible for classics such as Alien and Blade Runner.

The plot follows the crew of the spaceship Prometheus in the year 2085, as they explore an advanced alien civilization in search of the origins of humanity. Conceived as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares “strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak”, and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas. – Wikipedia excerpt

It looks pretty damn awesome to me. It’s been filmed entirely in 3D, and quite frankly looks fantastic just judging by the visuals in the trailer. I don’t think you should pass this film up when it comes out this summer! Who’s ready for some fantastic, three dimensional face-lovin’?

Release Date: June 8, 2012 (USA) Be there or be square.
