Today the motion picture industry lost another great artist. You may have never seen him or heard of his name, but you have heard his unmistakable voice in many commercials, promos, and movie trailers.
Mr. LaFontaine died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications in the treatment of an ongoing illness, said Vanessa Gilbert, his agent. (Sources say that he suffered a collapsed lung.) He was 68 years old.
He has made more than 5,000 trailers in his 33-year career while working for the top studios and television networks of the world.
He was featured in a Geico ad series that used hired celebrities to paraphrase actual customer experiences. That’s the commercial below.

I also came across another video that was an interview of the man that will forever be known as ‘King of the Movie Trailer Voices‘.

May he rest in peace.
